Welcome to Summer Sim 2010
The Museum's aim is to preserve an important part of Britain's national aviation heritage and to display it for future generations. At Cosford we have collections of artefacts unique in the world.
The War Plane Collection includes British, German, American, Japanese and Argentinean aircraft, all with an important place in the development of military aviation.
Cosford's Missile Collection includes unique, early German experimental missiles. The collection charts the history of this type of weapon from early concrete and wooden examples to today's state-of-the-art technology.
The Transport & Training Aircraft Collection is home to Royal Air Force transport aircraft, which relate the fascinating story of passenger and freight-carrying by air.
The jewel in the Museum's inventory is undoubtedly the Research & Development Aircraft Collection featuring some of the World's most exotic aircraft.
There are over fifty Aero Engines on display here too, and a small Vehicle Collection relating to aviation history.
Museum staff and volunteers are actively engaged in conservation and restoration work; there is also a considerable store of artefacts awaiting urgent treatment. These major projects are expensive and great reliance is placed upon corporate and individual sponsorship for the necessary funding.

The aim of the show
More than 3,000 people expected over the weekend of Summer Sim 2010 visiting over 30 stands and displays featuring everything the flight sim enthusiast could ever want. It is one of the biggest events ever promoted in the United Kingdom and is a must visit for every aviation fan.
Visitors can view, and participate in the virtual world, that is flight simulator. With an amazing array of aircraft available, used in any scenario, on their home PC. Along with the exhibitors generating an enthusiasm for all the products featured on display, and to give knowledge and education to all, via their purpose built displays, along with talks/seminars in the conference room. We are also aiming to have our full size simulator on site over the weekend.
Flight Simulator X is the culmination of over 25 years of work, created by Microsoft. The program has adapted and transformed the lives of many individuals over this period. With leading companies now well established in the simulation field, dealing in items from software through to hardware.
The business created has had spectacular success across the global market place. By bringing together these industry leaders that have strived to perfect the simulator model over this time, is true testament to the power of the product, and the people involved, in continuing its high success levels on a world stage, at which Cosford is one environment certainly placed into that category.
